The latest we have learnt is that the channel has also decided to air its long running show, Director’s Kut's Production’s Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai six days a week as well.
We have also learnt that the extension, as of now, will be applicable for a month’s period.These changes are done to give a tough competition to colors new show Bigg Boss 6.  Confirming the same, producer Rajan Shahi stated, “The channel has told us to go six days a week. But there is absolutely no threat from other shows on different channels.
May I remind you that two years ago, Star Plus had shows running for seven days a week. We are starting with six days as of now,” Averred Karan Mehra, who essays the role of Naitik, “As of now, we are going six days a week for a month. There will be intense drama in the coming episodes; there be some misunderstanding between me and Akshara (Hina Khan) as she will feel that I still love my ex-girlfriend, played by Antara (Akansha Kapil). But in spite of all this, things will eventually get sorted.”

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai completes 1000 episodes on 12 October (2012).
